The 6 Things I Have Learned About Content Marketing in My 6 Years with Ghostit

Wow, time flies when you’re having fun! My name is Stephanie, and I have been a part of the Ghostit team for 6 years now. I am one of the few on the team based in our HQ city, so I get to actually enjoy face-time with some of the other team members. I'm excited to share some insights I've gathered over my six-year journey in content marketing with Ghostit. It's been a thrilling ride, full of learning, creativity, and, most importantly, relationships.

1. The Importance of Relationships: The Magic Ingredient

Whether it's with clients or customers, the relationships we build are the bedrock of successful content marketing. This is where the magic happens, and trust is built. A strong relationship means understanding your client’s voice, vision, and values. It's about creating a partnership where ideas flow freely and there's mutual respect and appreciation. In my experience, fostering these relationships leads to better content, happier clients, and a more fulfilling work environment. Plus, it’s only when we have a respectful and trusting relationship that we feel safe to take risks!

2. The Value of a Deadline: Why Timeliness Matters

As a business owner, it’s tempting to manage your social media and blog yourself. However, let’s be honest—it’s easy to push that task down the list each week. This is where having a content agency like Ghostit comes into play. My sole focus is on delivering content reliably and on time every month. Deadlines aren’t just dates on a calendar; they are commitments to our clients and ourselves. Sticking to them ensures that content gets created, published, and circulated effectively and consistently, driving engagement and results.

3. Authenticity is More Important Than You Think

In a world where perfection is often overvalued, authenticity shines through. Spending too much time perfecting content can slow down your pipeline and cause you to miss out on current trends or conversations. I’ve found that raw and honest content often resonates more with audiences. Grainy, genuine reels can outperform polished, professional videos because they feel real and relatable. Of course, there’s a time and place for everything, but balancing professionalism with approachability is key to connecting with your audience.

4. Listening is the Key: Engage and Respond

Listening to your customers is crucial. Engage with them, share their content, and answer their questions. Don’t waste hours researching trending blog topics when your customer base is already telling you what they want to see. This approach not only saves time but also builds a community around your brand. By listening and responding, you show that you value their input, which fosters loyalty and trust. (Back to that relationship aspect!)

5. The Importance of a Close and Empowered Team

Behind every successful content marketing strategy is a close-knit, empowered team. At Ghostit, our team is the heart of our operation. Empowering employees to take ownership of their projects and encouraging advocacy within the team leads to innovative ideas and a dynamic work environment. When your team feels valued and motivated, their creativity and productivity soar, resulting in exceptional content and satisfied clients. What I have loved about Ghostit is that I get to work directly with clients, and they feel like they are a part of my team rather than my client.

6. Adaptability: Stay Agile in a Fast-Paced World

The content marketing landscape is ever-changing, and adaptability is crucial. Staying agile and open to new ideas and technologies can make a significant difference. Whether it’s adjusting strategies based on analytics, experimenting with new content formats, or keeping up with the latest social media trends, being flexible allows us to stay ahead of the curve and continuously improve our offerings.

Wrapping Up

My six years with Ghostit have been a journey of growth, learning, and immense satisfaction. Content marketing is more than just creating content; it’s about connecting with people, understanding their needs, and delivering value consistently. I hope these insights help you in your content marketing journey. Are you curious about how Ghostit can help your business? Want to join our team? Get in touch today!
